Future Construction of the Sacred Stones project

Design concept for the sacred stone area.
The community of the New Clairvaux Abbey has changed the mission of the sacred stone project. The medieval reconstructed chapter house will now be the abbey's new church. Unlike a parish church or cathedral, a monastic church is comprised of essentially two main areas- the Choir and the Liturgy of the Word and the Celebration of the Eucharist. Guests and visitors will be able to attend prayer services throughout the week or enjoy a tour of the Gothic Cistercian architecture when the sanctuary is not in use.
What was once the attrium will now be integrated into the design. Seating will be in the outer area for those attending mass or prayer and the choir stalls for the monatic community will be under the trans-vaulted ceiling of the sacred stone structure.
The second and third phase of building will include a new infirmary and a new patoral, administration and formation center. The current center is 130 years old and is suffering from wear and tear.
